Welcome Food Lovers!

My name is Jannell and I present to you My BF is GF, my best friend is gluten-free - a gluten-free food blog inspired by my Chinese-Canadian upbringing and my gluten-free husband Reid.

While food has the power to bring us together, for those among us with dietary restrictions, it can add anxiety and frustration to the precious moments we share. This site is for anyone who has ever felt excluded from the conversation of food, allowing you to discover foods that were out of reach in the past.

My BF is GF celebrates diversity and encourages people of all backgrounds to take part in cooking delicious foods inspired by cuisines all over the world. The focus is on gluten-free home cooking with inspiration from East and Southeast Asian cuisines.

I strive to learn as much as I can about the origins of the foods I cook and the stories behind them. I will always be open about who has influenced my recipes.

Here at My BF is GF, there is no emphasis on ‘authenticity’ as I believe that hinders chefs of colour from innovation and growth. My BF is GF stands behind ingenuity, inclusivity, and deliciousness.

My BF is GF is dedicated to anyone who loves food and/or has faced the challenges of a strict gluten-free diet in their lifetime.
